Kayon Mountain coffee has made a name for itself over the past few years, and when you taste the coffee you see why. It’s hard to find a cleaner cup of a natural coffee out of Ethiopia. The fruit-forward notes are very clear and defined. With a tea-like body, this coffee is delicate and floral and sweet. This can be attributed to its Grade 1, or organic certifications. (Grade 1 indicates very few defects are present in the coffee. The grading system is the primary method of sorting coffees from Ethiopia.) The pleasant flavor can also be attributed to the growing conditions of this family-run farm. Ato Esmael, the producer, and his family tend to their 240 hectares with the help of local villagers. The family is committed to socially & environmentally ethical practices. The farm itself is high-altitude and grows under a forest canopy which, protects, fertilizes, and regulates the watering of the coffee trees. The clay soil relies on the forest ecosystem to grow this coffee under ideal conditions. As you can taste in the cup, everything comes together to give us a lovely cup of coffee. If you’re trying to minimize the amount of cream or sugar you use in coffee, our Kayon Mountain is great to drink black. It’s sweet an complex on its own!
